Didi was all set up for movie night, with The Punk Singer queued up on Netflix and a bowl of seasoned popcorn on the table because she liked it. Since she'd moved in, the apartment's living area had been slowly Didi-fied, with a few bright, whimsical prints on the walls and a throw rug patterned with goldfish in front of the couch.

She nibbled at some popcorn as she waited for her guest.

Jono was feeling pretty decent this evening. And why not? He had good company ahead of him (please get along, good company) and a documentary to watch that was pertinent to his interests. So help him, tonight was going to be a good night if it killed him.

Of course, first he was going to have to knock.

Or just say 'knock,' because he was a brat like that.

Hannibal's hands were full - he was hardly going to show up and not bring food - so he was just going to shake his head at that. It wasn't as though it were rude to announce himself telepathically, but what was wrong with actually knocking?

"Can you remind these guys not to use the upstairs bathroom?" Tamsin asked, stealing a handful of Didi's popcorn.

She was actually going to get out of Didi's way in a minute. She just really craved popcorn.

"Yeah, I'll keep them out of your way," Didi promised, giving Tamsin a sidelong look. "You sure you don't want to stay and watch the movie?"

She headed toward the door as she spoke, grinning a hello as she pulled it open. "Hey, welcome! You're my first guests since I moved here."

//Well, that's one hell of an honour,// Jono decided. Yes, even though he'd been in this apartment before. How often did Death have houseguests, right? //Evening, Sunshine. How're you tonight?//

Hannibal smiled politely over the container of food. "It's a pleasure; thank you for the invitation."

"No problem. Movies are more fun when you have someone to watch them with anyhow," Didi said, accepting the food and placing it next to her bowl of popcorn. "You didn't have to bring anything, but I'm not going to turn it down. And I'm having a good day, how are you?"

Tamsin snatched up another handful of popcorn and eyed both with only a hint of eyeroll. (Okay, she might have spent a second longer looking contemplatively at Jono's wrappings again.) "Wait, did you stage a potluck and not tell me?" she said, squinting at Didi. "'Cause then I wouldn't have bothered buying food."

//Less a potluck, more that Hannibal enjoys feeding people. A lot.// Jono shrugged his shoulders a little, giving Tamsin a wry look before stuffing his hands into his pockets. //We've been well enough. Still winding down again after the weekend.//

That had been a fair bit to get used to. And then let go of again.

"Well, it looks great," Didi said, and claimed an olive toast thing from the container of food before setting it back aside. "So lucky me, saying he could tag along."

She moved toward the couch to sit. 'Yeah, it seems like that'd be ... kind of a lot to come back down from."

//Not that I want to go through life with a C-cup or anything, but I wouldn't have complained if the weekend had stretched on a little longer, either,// Jono admitted, shrugging and flopping himself down on the couch, too. //You know, Luke's had strawberry bloody everything on special on Monday?//

He probably wasn't going to let that one go any time soon.

Ever.

"I think I saw the sign," Didi said sympathetically. "That's just cruel of Luke's."

She doubted the timing was intentional, but there were times to argue that point and times not to, and this was definitely a time not to.

"But hey, if the weekend had gone longer,it just would have made for more to give up, right?"

//I've got a bone to pick with the busboy who went berry picking,// Jono decided, and then was happy to leave it at that. //But... you're right. It was hard enough giving up a body I actively hated. Aside from the obvious, I was doing pretty okay this weekend. Coming back to this was... not wonderful, but I'll cope.//

He'd been doing surprisingly well at that, actually.

Didi busied herself poking at the popcorn so he wouldn't see her wince.

"If you said you were wonderful, I'd start checking for a fever," she said dryly. "I dunno, would you really want to live as a woman forever? I'm not even thinking about sexism -- it just seems like that wouldn't be you."

[furnaceface]

//Was more me than the big-and-blue,// Jono replied with a shrug. //I'd probably get used to it in time. But then, I've gotten used to this, I'm fairly certain I could get used to bloody near anything, by now.//

So, what he could get used to probably wasn't a great indicator of whether or not it was actually a good idea.

//I'm not exactly rushing out to implore the island to turn me back, anyway. I'd rather be me, however that happens to come.//

"Thank you." His hands freed, Hannibal opened the other box he'd brought and took out the bottle of wine - a rather nice but not extravagant Moscato d'Asti. "As a housewarming present," he explained, holding it out to Didi.

"This is nice," Didi said, reading the bottle with a careful eye. "Do you think it'll go with the snacks, or should I save it for later?"

Hannibal spread his hands. "Whichever you prefer. It does go well with fruit and dairy, but if you'd rather save it, it's yours to do with as you please."

"Then I'll open it now," Didi decided. "I don't drink a lot, so if you're here to share it, there's a much greater chance it won't go straight down Tamsin's throat."

Probably with absolutely no thought to a proper pairing.

She disappeared into the tiny kitchen to get glasses and a corkscrew. When she reemerged, she said, "I have to admit, I wasn't sure you'd come. I didn't expect you to be into riot grrl."

Hannibal chuckled and confided, "To tell you the truth, I'm not entirely certain what it is. But I enjoy new experiences, even if they may not be to my tastes. I loathe the thought of stagnation. May I help with that?" He held his hand out for the glasses or the bottle, whichever she preferred he handle.

Hannibal set one hand briefly and unobtrusively on Jono's back in support. Jono had been doing very well, but even the promise of someday was a bit colorless after a weekend whole.

Jono turned a little glance in Hannibal's direction, and then just bowed his head a little in thanks.

//S'not so bad,// he decided. //I have more trousers that fit me like this anyway.//

Hannibal smirked. "Yes, but the dresses don't."

He had numerous pictures of the dresses. He should probably show them to Didi.

//The trousers also cover more,// Jono noted, putting his nose into the air. //I could run around in my boxer shorts and those would still cover more. They'd be less drafty, too.//

Because he was so concerned about catching a cold, sure.

"And far less stylish." Hannibal was going to give Jono new underwear for his birthday. And Christmas. And every bank holiday. Stylish, comfortable boxer briefs.
